Local Organic Food Guide & Publication Party June 4!

Georgia Organics has released the 2007 Local Food Guide. Spanning the entire state, this year’s edition includes listings of farms, CSAs (Community Support Agriculture), restaurants, groceries, and farmers’ markets that grow, sell, or serve local and sustainable foods.
This year’s Guide reflects a resurgence in sustainable and organic farming in Georgia. Over 100 local farms are listed, a 55 percent increase; additionally, this year’s Guide includes a comprehensive list of farmers’ markets that feature local producers, 51 total. To keep up with demand for this popular Guide, Georgia Organics printed 50,000 copies; last year’s 28,000 copies were snapped up by hungry consumers within two months.
The Guide is free to consumers, and can be downloaded in pdf format from www.georgiaorganics.org; 50,000 print copies can be found at natural food stores throughout the state.
On June 4, Georgia Organics hosts a party at JCT Kitchen in Atlanta to celebrate the release of this year’s Local Food Guide. Featuring local pork and greens, with entertainment provided by The National Grain, the party is $10, or free for Georgia Organics members. RSVP at www.georgiaorganics.org or by calling 678.702.0400.
Guides are pretty consistently available at Sevananda, all Whole Foods locations and may pop up at places like Return to Eden, area farmers’ markets, Natural Body, Patagonia, etc.
Georgia Organics’ mission is to integrate healthy, sustainable and locally grown food into the lives of Georgians.
