Buying Green

Looking for a store that sells recycled home accessories, furniture, bedding, appliances and apparel? Check out Green Home: The Environmental Store, an online shop that specializes in making your life completely eco-friendly. In the current issue of Atlanta INtown, we featured a few products from Green Home, but wanted to point out a few more we thought were especially cool.

Apparel: The line of baby clothing is made from 100% chemically untreated cotton because it breathes more easily than synthetic fibers and does not emit toxic vapors from pesticides used in growth or manufacture. Green Home's baby clothes are not made with synthetically dyed fabrics.

Computers: Need more disks to store your info? Green Home uses disks reclaimed from unsold software packages that are wiped, reformatted and repackaged. Since they have never been used, they are virus free. They provide an ideal green alternative for your office at the same cost as a standard, non-recycled disk. These disks are available in IBM or Mac format. They also have "green machines" -- computers made lead-free.

Home Accessories: How about picture frames made from recycled bike chain and reclaimed wood or a clock made from recycled laundry bottles (pictured)? These cool items are environmentally friendly and would look very chic in a loft or condo setting.

Pet Accessories: Your pets should live environmentally, too, so look at the select of 100 percent organic cotton beds and pads, leashes made from hemp and toys made from recycled plastic.
