Pennington Seed Makes Habitat Donation
Because the dream of homeownership should include a beautiful green lawn, Pennington Seed, the world’s largest packager and distributor of grass seed, today announced it is donating 6,000 pounds of its new eco-friendly Pennington Smart Seed to Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. That’s enough Smart Seed to grow a thriving lawn for every home Atlanta Habitat for Humanity builds through 2009.
“Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and Pennington Seed share a commitment to saving the earth’s resources. We’re dedicated to building and providing affordable and environmentally-friendly housing throughout the Atlanta area and Pennington’s generous Smart Seed donation allows us to extend our mission to the lawn,” said Larrie Del Martin, executive director of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. “Atlanta Habitat homes are built with environmentally-sensitive products and practices every step of the way. Now our homeowners can enjoy their great looking lawn and feel good about conserving water at the same time.”
Unveiled in the spring, Pennington Smart Seed is a hit among homeowners and lawn and landscape enthusiasts across the country. The first eco-friendly grass seed requires up to 30% less water, maximizes fertilizer performance, and grows denser and deeper root systems for a thick, healthy, more drought resistant lawn. Pennington Smart Seed features the MYCO Advantage, an exclusive blend of beneficial, all-natural organisms that contributes to plant growth and enables a smart lawn to flourish with much less water and work.
“As a Georgia-based company, Pennington Seed is extremely proud to team up with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity to help families conserve water and enhance the curb appeal of their new homes with a great looking Smart Seed lawn,” said Ronnie Stapp, executive vice president for Pennington Seed. “Pennington is honored to work together with an organization that is making such a difference in so many lives across metro Atlanta.”
