Duane Marcus of The Urban Gardener will be hosting a workshop at The Funny Farm teaching individuals how to garden organically. This hands-on workshop will begin in February, although their is an early bird special for those who registar before December 24.
This workshop is designed for both beginners and those with experience. It will benefit you whether you have a townhouse patio or a 4 acre lot.
This workshop will help you to:
*Make compost and manage your soil using free, local organic inputs
*Grow vegetables from seed
*Put biodiversity to work to reduce or eliminate pests
*Use perennial vegetables and fruits as a part of a permaculture garden
*Use mushrooms to recycle nutrients and produce high quality protein
Harness that power of worms to turn your kitchen scraps into nutrient rich worm castings
There will be six classes meeting every other week starting February 1st. Classes will meet at The Funny Farm 4459 Allgood Springs Dr., Stone Mountain, GA 30083. The classes will meet from 1-4 p.m. on Sundays and will be divided into classroom work and work in the garden. The cost of the workshop is $360, however those who meet the early bird deadline will pay $300.
