Marietta-based Casteel Heating and Cooling launches Casteel Carbon Monoxide Protection Program to educate consumers about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. The company is offering $1000 of free gas to one respondent of their Carbon Monoxide Survey during the month of March.
Following this month's release of the Consumer Report Survey stating that 48% of Americans do not have carbon monoxide detectors at home, Marietta-based Casteel Heating and Cooling launched the Casteel Carbon Monoxide Protection Program aimed at educating Atlanta residents about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning. As a part of the new initiative, the 20 year old local company is releasing a survey that helps consumers determine whether or not they are at risk.
Participants in the 8 question survey, which ends March 31st, register to win a $1,000 gas card. The survey can be reached at www.casteelair.com
According to the Centers for Disease Control, carbon monoxide (CO) is the leading cause of fatal poisonings in North America and led to approximately 15,200 emergency room visits from 1999-2003. Although carbon monoxide detectors will be required in all new one & two-family homes built in Georgia after January 1, 2009, there are still many older homes where families are still at risk.
The company is encouraging Atlanta residents to take part in a short survey designed to help determine whether their families are suffering from poisoning due to a CO leak. Because carbon monoxide is particularly hard to detect due to the colorless, odorless nature of the gas, people often confuse symptoms of poisoning with those of the flu.
