This January, the Atlanta Regional Commission, responsible for organizing Atlanta's ten counties, began accepting applications from local governments for Green Communities Certification. The Green Communities Certification is designed to recognize local governments that set the bar when it comes to environmental leadership and sustainability. The Certification program is the first of its kind in the country.
The first Green Communities Certification will recognize some as-yet unannounced jurisdictions at a ceremony on Wednesday, July 22 at 1 pm at the Atlanta Regional Commission Board Room, 40 Courtland Street, Atlanta, 30303.
