It has been a great year for WicksteadWorks with many prestigious designations and honorable recognitions.
To start, the Atlanta Business Chronicle named WicksteadWorks as one of the top 20 remodelers in Atlanta. Atlanta has many qualified remodeling companies, but WicksteadWorks’ emphasis on customer satisfaction, impeccable quality of work and devotion to green building practices has given them an edge over their competition, and solidified themselves as a top remodeler in Atlanta. “It is a privilege to be ranked among the best in Atlanta and this designation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff at WicksteadWorks,” said Frank Wickstead, President of WicksteadWorks.
Wickstead’s expertise in green building practices is evident by the fact that he is a LEED Accredited Professional. This year he added to his green credentials by becoming a verifier for the National Green Building Program, which is part of the National Home Builders Association. As a verifier, Wickstead will thoroughly analyze different homes, ensuring that they meet the criteria of the national green building certification. In addition, Wickstead also became a Certified Green Building Professional. Wickstead firmly believes in building green, which is why the minimum standard for all WicksteadWorks projects is EarthCraft certification.
While the company has furthered their involvement with the green building industry and been labeled as a top remodeler in Atlanta, they have also launched a new blog specifically for homeowners undertaking a do-it-yourself remodeling project. “Ask WicksteadWorks” is a forum in which homeowners will be able to get advice from an industry expert completely free of charge. The blog was created to be highly interactive, so visitors to the site are encouraged to leave comments and ask any remodeling questions they may have.
As an experienced remodeling company, WicksteadWorks is able to provide solutions for all types of problems. For example, one renovation project of WicksteadWorks was for a family with two asthmatic children. After the project was completed, the children’s asthma symptoms were completely gone due to WicksteadWorks’ renovations of the crawl space and HVAC system. Once the renovations were complete, the house became EarthCraft certified.
WicksteadWorks has completed a wide variety of projects. In 2007, WicksteadWorks received an OBIE Award for “best renovation” for their work on the Bauer Project. WicksteadWorks completed a whole house renovation transforming a 1930’s bungalow into a modern energy-efficient home, while maintaining the original architectural integrity. More recently, WicksteadWorks was featured on Renovation Nation, a regular program on the Planet Green channel, for the innovative water conservation and rainwater reuse techniques they incorporated into a Myrtle Street project. On Thursday, Oct. 16, The Clean Air Campaign will honor the region's outstanding workplaces for commuters at the 2008 PACE Awards luncheon.
PACE Awards are given to employers, property management companies and individuals who have shown commitment, innovation and leadership in promoting commute options programs that reduce traffic and improve air quality.
Tickets are now on sale for this annual event, which is presented by The Clean Air Campaign a Georgia nonprofit in cooperation with the region's nine transportation management associations (TMAs) and RideSmart, the regional rideshare service.
Nearly 600 business, government and community leaders are expected to attend the luncheon. The high cost of commuting this year inspired many employers to improve their existing commute options programs or implement new ones, said Kevin Green, executive director of The Clean Air Campaign.
The PACE Awards offers the opportunity to recognize the workplaces contributing real solutions that reduce air pollution, traffic congestion and money commuters spend on gas. We are looking forward to celebrating the accomplishments of our award finalists and winners.
PACE Awards recognize outstanding employer-sponsored commute options programs such as teleworking programs, transit pass programs, carpooling programs, vanpooling programs and flextime policies. These programs have been shown to offer substantial benefits to employers, including stronger recruitment and increased retention, higher employee productivity, and reduced parking and office space costs.
The PACE Awards for overall employer programs are presented in five sub-categories: small, medium and large business, public sector and property management company. Specific awards to be presented are: The PACE Innovator Award is presented to an employer or property management company that has developed an innovative solution to an air quality/traffic-related problem.
The PACE Starter Award recognizes an outstanding commute options program that is less than 18 months old.
The PACE Spotlight Award recognizes an applicant that has excelledin a single program element.
The GDOT Commissioner's Award is specifically presented to community leaders, corporate executives and other individuals who have used their influence and shown exemplary commitment to the improvement of air quality and the reduction of traffic congestion.
The PACE Setter Award is presented to an individual who has taken aleadership role in traffic congestion mitigation and air qualityimprovement.
The Commuter Champion Award is presented to an individual who does not have an official responsibility to develop or execute commute options programs, but who has made significant contributions in reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality by promoting commute options to his/her peers.
The 2008 PACE Awards are being sponsored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and WABE 90.1 FM. The Oct. 17 edition of the Atlanta Business Chronicle will include a special section featuring the winners and how they've becomethe best workplaces for commuters.
The 2008 PACE Awards luncheon will be held on Thursday, Oct. 16 at The Georgia Aquarium. Tickets can be purchased for $35 per person or $350 for atable of 10.
