One of Atlanta's favorite outdoor farmers' markets, The Piedmont Park Green Market, opens this Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The weekly event is so popular, that Piedmont Park Conservancy has extended this year's market through Dec. 13. The market is set up on the Piedmont Avenue side of the park at 12th Street.The produce at this market is Georgia grown, so expect to find the vegetables and fruits that are from this region. For example, May has lots of greens, lettuces and cooler season produce. In mid-June, the melons and tomatoes are in season. Fresh bread and fresh cut flowers are a staple of the market. There are specialty food products such as pasta and salsa as well as all natural beauty and health products. There is also a component for artisans.
