Coffee, Tea...and Energy!

If you haven’t checked out Energy Coffee yet, now’s the time to try this 14th Street alternative to Starbucks. Easy parking, familiar faces – co-owners Kate Pedrick and Jim Vineyard are almost always there -- wi fi, outdoor seating, sponsored runs and walks and, best of all, they are “green” right down to the organic, Fair Trade and shade grown coffees from Batdorf and Bronson, American’s first 100 percent green-powered coffee company. Check out Batdorf's green timeline at: www.batdorf.com

And then go to Energy to check out their other green initiatives:
• Floors are bamboo hardwood, the most enviromentally friendly hardwood.
• Windows are lightly tinted to help save electricity.
• Any electric powered piece of equipment is turned off when not in use, blender, grinder, etc.
• Lights are turned off nightly (except security minimal lights).
• Lower wattage bulbs are used in most areas.
• Minimal water usage.
• Recycled paper products such as paper towels.
• Use of paper bags, not plastic.
• Sell (when in stock) Biota Bottled spring water made of corn not plastic.
• An on-site box to recycle ink cartridges.
• Plans to launch an "in store" full recycle system, recycling all paper goods, plastic, cardboard used at Energy Coffee (starting June 1).
• Bike rack for our customers, and encourage biking, walking, running to the shop...and have been even known to give a 10% discount to those that do bike, run, or walk to Energy Coffee.
• Available "upon request" free used coffee grinds to those gardeners who use coffee grinds as fertilizers.
• Next car? Hybrid!
