Earth Day in the Garden, April 22

The Atlanta Botanical Garden will celebrate the 38th annual Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, with Earth Day in the Garden. Celebrate Earth Day with complimentary free admission all day, made possible through a partnership between the Atlanta Botanical Garden and your Atlanta Area Lexus Dealers. The Garden will be filled with flowers at the peak of springtime bloom!

A series of educational opportunities, included with admission, are planned throughout the day. For kids and families:

10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.: Songs and Stories with Julie Austin in the Children’s Garden Amphitheater. Julie is a performer with Young Audiences of Atlnata, and she will have the audience tapping their toes and clapping their hands through engaging, active participation singing, dancing and more.

For adults and older children, special 1-hour presentations:

1 p.m. African Forest Conservation Laurie Blackmore of Full Circle Trade, an importer supporting sustainable livelihoods around the world, and Atlanta Botanical Garden Conservatory Manager Paul Blackmore.

3 p.m. Sustainable Livelihoods, Sustainable Planet Earth University

7 p.m.: Battling the Global Amphibian Crisis, Atlanta Botanical Garden Amphibian Specialist Robert Hill.

The mission of the Atlanta Botanical Garden is to develop and maintain plant collections for display, education, research, conservation and enjoyment. The Garden is located at 1345 Piedmont Ave. NE in Midtown, between 14th Street and Monroe Drive. The Garden is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and admission is $12 adults, $9 seniors and children 3-17, free to children under three and Garden members.
